New Cohort of Educators for children with special needs to tackle inclusion challenges

KARACHI [12 June 2026]— The Association for Children with Emotional and Learning Problems (ACELP) celebrated a major milestone during the graduation of its fourth batch of students from the Diploma in Multi Rehabilitation of Children with Special Needs (MRSN). Research by global organization UNICEF suggests that one out of ten children with disabilities require specialized support for normal functioning in daily life.

Offered in collaboration with the College of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences at Ziauddin University, the diploma program directly addresses this critical shortage of trained personnel in offering therapeutic services to neurodivergent children. The curriculum ensures that graduates gain a deep understanding of diverse diagnostics, learning how to interact with and teach children across sensory, emotional, cognitive, and physical areas.

With this latest batch, more than 50 diploma holders from the program are now serving the community both across Pakistan and internationally, actively working to break down structural barriers to social and educational inclusion.

ACELP President Meher Hasan emphasized that the institute remains dedicated to supporting children with special needs.

“Over the years, we have consistently moved toward our goal of providing education, training, and an environment of love and acceptance for children with special needs,” Ms Hasan said. “This diploma is another step towards achieving this objective. Knowledge and the ability to understand the needs of diverse learning potential bring fundamental changes in societal attitudes and acceptance.”

ACELP is an institute of child development with over 50 years of experience offering specialized care. The institute provides comprehensive, multi-disciplinary support for children facing physical, mental, cognitive, and behavioural challenges, including Autism, Down Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy.
