KARACHI [16 June 2026] — The Association for Children with Emotional and Learning Problems (ACELP) today inaugurated the Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre, in partnership with UNICEF, marking a major step forward in its long-standing mission to support children with physical and mental health challenges.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chief Guest Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, Honourable Minister for Health and Population Welfare, Government of Sindh, alongside representatives from UNICEF, the World Food Programme, and the Sindh Institute of Child Health and Neonatology.
Since 1974, ACELP has been a vital support for children facing challenges of developmental, behavioural and emotional issues such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome. The organisation has built a reputation for providing a holistic environment where children receive the specialised schooling and therapy they need to adjust and progress to develop according to their skills and strength.
“For over five decades, ACELP has been the place where families find expert care and assessment for their children,” said Meher Hasan, President of ACELP. “Our commitment has always been that no child should be left behind. The ECD centre is a continuation of ongoing efforts with new partners; a journey with international organization like UNICEF that allows us to take our years of experience and apply it at the most foundational stage of a child’s development.”
The centre is designed to provide early stimulation and cognitive development, ensuring that developmental needs are identified and addressed as early as possible.
